The Labour Law Practitioner’s Assocation (LLPA), which had been off work since Tuesday as a mark of protest against the manhandling of a lawyer, has called of their strike on Thursday. The lawyers had claimed that their strike would continue till Saturday.

LLPA president Tanuja Kolhatkar said, “In protest against an incident, in which our colleague Ashish Deshpande was manhandled, restrained and beaten by lawyers at Kolhapur labour court, we announced stop work from Tuesday. We had planned to carry it on till Saturday. On Thursday we received a letter from the Pune Bar Association promising that stringent action will be taken against the lawyer who assaulted Deshpande. After getting this letter, we ended our stop work.”
