An undertrial in murder case was caught by jail staff at main gate trying to smuggle 40 gm ganja inside Yerawada jail on Thursday evening.
The inmate Amit Bharatlal Yadav had been taken to the Shivajinagar court on Thursday afternoon where his friend replaced his slippers with footwear with fake sole containing the contraband.
Sentry Sanjay Hegade at the main gate stopped the inmate and asked him to remove his footwear after noticing the shining on the new chappals. A close scrutiny revealed the fake sole and the ganja. API Shivaji Bendre said, “We have registered a case against Yadav.”
