PUNE
Deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar said that the revenue officials would not be spared if unauthorised constructions take place during their tenure. He was speaking at the District Planning and Development Committee (DPDC) meeting on Monday.
MLAs Girish Bapat, Bhimrao Tapkir, Madhuri MIsal, Mahadev Babar, Vijay Shivtare and Mohan Joshi had raised the issue of the recent incident of drowning of a woman and her infant daughter at Shindewadi near Katraj tunnel on Mumbai-Bangalore National Highway. The MLAs questioned as to why the officers in the administration were not being held responsible despite the fact that unauthorised buildings, that too of six-stories, were being constructed all over the district.
Pawar assured that no one would be spared as innocent lives were lost in the incident. He promised that action would be taken against the revenue officials during whose tenure such unauthorised constructions crop up.
District collector Vikas Deshmukh gave a detailed information about the action taken against the unauthorised constructions. He said several parties had approached the court and due to stay orders the administration can’t proceed in such cases.
Bapat pointed out that while action was initiated against a builder, why the revenue officials were being spared. Other MLAs also raised the issue and alleged that the administration was turning a blind eye to illegal structures.
Pawar said that the home department has instituted a separate inquiry against the land purchase by senior police officers in Katraj area. MLC Mohan Joshi had raised this issue.
