Historysheeter held for attacking seven in Sangvi

Seven people, including four women, were injured when a group of assailants led by a historysheeter attacked them with sharp weapons following an argument over a petty issue in Sangvi on Thursday.

The incident came to light when one of the victims, Malama Manappa Bahadur (34) lodged a complaint with the Sangvi police under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for attempt to murder, assault and common intention to commit crime.

One of the assailants, Gopal Singh Dhushum Singh Dudhani (54), a resident of Mulanagar in Old Sangvi, has been arrested in this connection.
Dudhani has been arrested in the past also for his alleged involvement in some burglaries.

His son Deepak Singh, who allegedly heads a gang of robbers, was arrested in May after he broke into a house and assaulted some policemen on night patrol when they tried to capture him.

The injured have been identified as Manappa Bhandari (38), his sister-in-law Mahadevi (55), their relative Parshuram (27), Parshuram’s father Devdhan (58) and Devdhan’s daughters Devika (17) and Bhagyashree (20).

Malama also suffered minor bruises. All the injured are undergoing treatment at Makhan hospital. Manappa is in intensive care unit (ICU) and has received 10 stitches on his thigh. Mahadevi has suffered injuries on her stomach.

Inspector in-charge of Sangvi police station, ST Tayade, said, “Dudhani is a roadside vendor of utensils. He and Manappa had an argument over some petty issue at around 12.30 pm on Thursday. When Manappa’s family and relatives tried to resolve the matter, Dudhani and his associates who were armed with choppers attacked them. After receiving information about the incident, we went to the spot and arrested Dudhani.”
