A case was filed against Shiv Sena corporator Vijay Deshmukh at Hadapsar police station on Thursday after he failed to give information about the cases filed against him in his election affidavit.
Assistant election officer Madhav Jagtap had lodged a formal first information report at Hadapsar police station against Deshmukh.
According to the police, “Deshmukh had contested Pune Municipal Corporation election from ward number 44 (Satavwadi) in February this year. Cases like dacoity, kidnapping, damaging public property and manhandling government servant have been filed against him at Yavat, Shivajinagar and Wanavdi police stations."
"However, he failed to give the details of these cases in his election affidavit. This came to light when defeated candidate Vijay More of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) had moved an election petition,” the police added.
