City recorded 13 mm rainfall on Tuesday

Incessant rains in the catchment areas of Khadakwasla system in June has improved the water level of four dams as it is holding 5.23 thousand million cubic (TMC) feet of water.
The Khadakwasla, Panshet, Warasgaon and Temghar dams had only 1.71 thousand million cubic (TMC) feet of water till mid-June. The water level has improved up to 5.23 TMC following continuous rains in the catchment areas of these dams.
The city witnessed rain for the second consecutive day on Tuesday. There were light showers in the morning before it started raining heavily in many parts of the city by late afternoon.
Most of the roads in the city were overflowing with water. People were finding it difficult to cross the roads as most of the traffic signals had stopped working. The traffic police were trying their best to facilitate smooth flow of vehicles.
With the city receiving 13 mm rainfall on Tuesday, India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted heavy rains in isolated parts of the city in the next 24-48 hours. As the south west monsoon has been vigorous over central Maharashtra.
An IMD official said, “As the monsoon turf has come back to the normal position, the city is witnessing good rainfall. Pune will get more rains as the turf moves towards the south.”
