The first visual memory of India when artist Shola Carletti shifted here from Italy is that of Lord Ganesh.

“It is the first thing I noticed when I came down to India. The idol is endearing and I completely adore Ganeshji,” said Carletti.
An artist who expresses her works in gold, Carletti identifies with the idol in many ways.

“I absolutely love the witty eyes, endearing belly and abundant feelings that come across from him. It reflects my personality as I too love having people over and I am welcoming,” said Carletti.
She likes collecting Ganesh idols and has around eight unique pieces in her home.

“I am not aware of the actual rituals and traditions that go around the festival but I light an incense stick and say a small prayer. I wish for good luck and happiness,” she said.

This year, Carletti wishes the lord of wisdom helps the art scene in the city. “Pune is known for its strong cultural influence and yet we see a lack of art appreciation in the city. I am offering prayers to Ganeshji to help us out of this tricky situation,” added Carletti.
