Tragedy struck the Ramavat family on Thursday afternoon. All three members of the family, including a six-year-old boy, lost their lives when a speeding dumper truck hit their two-wheeler at Ambedkar Chowk on Alandi Road.
Tragedy struck the Ramavat family on Thursday afternoon. All three members of the family, including a six-year-old boy, lost their lives when a speeding dumper truck hit their two-wheeler at Ambedkar Chowk on Alandi Road.
The deceased have been identified as Shankar Lokesh Ramavat (40), his wife Mangal Shankar Ramavat (35) and son Ganu Shankar Ramavat (6). They were residents of Rajiv Gandhi Vasahat in Pashan area. According to the police, none of them were wearing helmets when the accident took place.
Police inspector (crime) P Bhosle of Vishrantwadi police station said, “Shankar Ramavat was riding a bike. His wife Mangal and son Ganu were riding pillion. Their bike had reached Ambedkar Chowk when a speeding dumper truck came from behind and hit the bike while trying to overtake. Shankar lost control over the bike.
All three fell and were run over by the dumper truck.”
The victims were rushed to Sassoon Hospital, but were declared brought dead on arrival. The police have detained the dumper truck driver.
