DP draft opposition: NCP petition carries 14,000 signatures

As the deadline for filing suggestions and objections on old Pune city’s development plan (DP) is getting over on Wednesday, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) submitted a petition on the DP after collecting 14,000 signatures.

The committee set up by NCP on the issue of Pune’s DP has given various objections, including cancellation of reservation of public amenity spaces, construction on hill top and giving four FSI on the Metro corridor.

However, these suggestions and objections does not include suggestions and objections from the elected corporators of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The members held separate meeting to set their agenda on the Pune’s DP.

NCP city chief and Rajya Sabha MP Vandana Chavan said, “We have collected 14,000 signatures on the revised DP in line with the suggestions and objections made by the city unit executive committee. We have strongly objected cancellation of reservations of the public amenity spaces and converting them into residential zones. We have also suggested that there should not be any construction on the hilltop areas. The construction which has already taken place on hilltop areas should remain but there should be restriction on expansion of these construction in future.”
Chavan said, “Four FSI has been announced on the Metro corridor which I feel is very wrong. The FSI should be provided only for the Metro station areas and not for the entire corridor.”

Pune Bachao Samiti to file police, court cases

After submitting several suggestions and objections regarding old Pune city’s development plan (DP), the Pune Bachao Samiti members have stated that they will try hard to scrap the present DP.

The members on Tuesday said that they are getting ready to file petition in the court to oppose DP and lodge police cases for providing undue advantage to certain lobbies.

Ujwal Keskar, one of the members of the committee, said, “So far, 24,000 suggestions and objections have been filed with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on the DP of which most of the suggestions and objections are filed by individuals as they are getting affected by the amendments in the DP. After the deadline of filing suggestions and objections gets over on Wednesday, we will be getting ready to file petition in the court against the present DP. We also want DP for the city but not the present one.”

Corporator Sanjay Balgude, member of the panel said, “The amendments made in the DP which are against the law should be challenged. We will be filing police complaints and also demand CID probe.”
