Although the Pune Zilla Parishad (ZP) took cognizance of several complaints by the parents regarding denial of admissions in minority schools to children belonging to minority community and has accordingly served notices, it is yet to form any inquiry committee to probe the matter.
The first complaint was made on April 30 by advocate Jatin Adhav when his daughter was denied admission by a well known school twice in 2011 and 2012. Adhav belongs to Christian community.
A similar complaint was made by Vishwas Mhaske, whose son was also denied admission in a minority school. He alleged that the seats were vacant when he had applied but the school denied admission without giving any satisfactory reason.
Adhav sought information regarding the minority schools in the city with the education board, Pune Municipal Corporation and ZP. PMC informed that there is no such information available with them, while ZP had given him a list of minority schools and asked him to find out the status.
