Crackdown on illegal water connections in Pimpri Chinchwad

The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) that has launched a crackdown against illegal water connections has seized seven electric motors used to draw water illegally from pipelines in Samarthnagar and Sangvi. In addition to it, the civic administration also cut nearly 21 illegal water connections in the twin town.

PCMC ward-D officer Pandurang Zure said that the municipal authority had received several complaints against the illegal motors which were attached directly to the tap. Due to this other residents in the area were facing water shortage. Earlier also, the civic body had seized motors from Sangvi area.

Recently, at a meeting in ward-D, all members of the ward level committee had expressed dissatisfaction over irregular water supply in the ward and advised ward officers to seize the illegal motors.

The drive was conducted under the supervision of executive engineer of water supply department, Sharad Yadav, junior engineers BT Bhagad, Amar Jadhav, Sandeep Khot and Saket Pawar.
