Congress corporator ‘lands’ in trouble for trespass

The Chatuhshrungi police on Sunday booked Congress corporator Sunny Nimhan and his accomplices for allegedly trespassing on land owned by one Anjali Deshmukh (56) at Aundh.

Police have claimed the arrest of Nimhan and his accomplices will be made only after investigations in the case.
Assistant commissioner of police Vishnu Mane told DNA, “We have registered a case under Section 447 (punishment for criminal trespass), 427 and 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint). Further course of action will be taken only after subsequent investigations in the case. As of now, we have not made any arrest in the case,” Mane said.

According to the complaint, Deshmukh’s bungalow is under construction since a couple of weeks. On Saturday night, Nimhan and his accomplices went to Aundh and demolished a compound wall of the bungalow. Moreover, they allegedly stopped a public road in the area. Senior police inspector Ajay Kadam of Chatuhshrungi police station, where the complaint has been lodged, said, “Deshmukh lodged a complaint with us alleging that Nimhan and his accomplices demolished a compound wall, though she had got permission from the PMC to construct. We sought details of this permission, and then registered her complaint. We are probing and action will be taken against people involved in the crime,” Kadam assured.

When contacted, Sunny Nimhan said, “Complainant Deshmukh has trespassed on the property. On Saturday night, we had gone to remove the encroachment. Earlier too, she had attacked the watchman at the property and we had filed a complaint of non-cognisable offence at Chatuhshrungi police station. If I wanted to grab the land, I wouldn’t have allowed them to construct their house on this land in the first place.”
