PUNE
Pune: It is just not their kits, diet and the coach that makes a prefect sports personnel. Maintaining a diary has become the holy book for many budding players, and a new mantra to success. The new under-15 badminton national champion, Purva Barve is among the many for whom the diary is a road to success.
Purva is the youngest player to have hit the billboard in the under-15 age group and her national title speaks volumes about her dedication. Going in as a qualifier at the Kadapa nationals in Andhra Pradesh early this year, this IX standard student from Abhinav Marathi School, Karve Road, stunned one and all as she went on to clinch the title, her first national crown. It has been the diary which played the trick. This new move was introduced by Gayathri Vartak, the psychologist, with the Nikhil Kanitkar’s badminton academy.
“It is more of a holy book for me,”said Purva. There are many other in the academy who have taken up this new mantra of success. Purva’s Cudappa victory saw her scale 10 ranks and now she is at no. 12.
