This Baisakhi, members of the Sikh community in the city will celebrate the festival on Saturday by providing help to the drought-affected people of the state.Harminder Singh Ghai, president of Gurunanak Darbar in Camp, said, “We will hold special prayers for the families affected by drought this year. We will also appeal to people to donate funds. We hope to accumulate a contribution of around Rs1 lakh.”Gurnam Singh Hora, president of Gurudwara Singh Saheb in Ganesh Peth, said, “We have taken permission from the district collector’s office to contribute funds from the shops in the area.”Hora added, “We have holy Bawdi inside the Gurudwara where ample of water is available throughout the year. We are willing to provide water for free to those who are facing crunch provided they can arrange for tankers to transport it.”Speaking about the importance of the occasion, Harvinder Singh, Panj Pyare, said, “Through ‘Sangeeto Ki Vani’ we spread the message of humanity and how one should always help others.”@anujismail
