A three-day National Temporal Bone Dissection Workshop organised by Department of Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery is underway at the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) from September 13. The workshop planned for training of young specialist surgeons is being attended by 60 ENT surgeons from AFMC and from civil hospitals from across the country.

It began with a unique event on Friday comprising a live webcast of real time surgeries and dissection done by luminaries in the field like Dr AG Pusalkar, Dr KP Morwani and Dr Narayan J.
Brigadier AK Das, professor & head, Department of Otolaryngology, welcomed all the delegates and highlighted that the webcasting technology is being utilised for scientific sessions for the first time in the Armed Forces.

Speaking on the occasion Air Marshal B Keshav Rao, Director and Commandant, AFMC emphasized the importance of the hands–on and practical training to upgrade their skills. Dr AG Pusalkar, senior consultant and an eminent teacher of otology, in his keynote address, lauded the efforts of Dept of ENT, AFMC in their attempt to take the workshop to the doorsteps of the eager ENT Surgeons.

He further emphasised that the cutting edge technology of web casting was going to make a paradigm shift in the way future workshops and scientific sessions will be held.
