Twenty-eight unmanned-level crossings which fall under Pune railway division will be closed down by 2015, the railway ministry has instructed.
The ministry has decided to close all unmanned-level railway crossing permanently so that the number of accidents can be controlled.
According to a press release by the Central Railway office, four railway crossings between Daund and Baramati and one between Mira and Kolhapur route will be closed by April and May.
Sub-ways have been made for the use of the commuters. In 2013-14, the Pune division will be closing more 10 unmanned-level crossings. All 28 unnamed crossings will be closed by 2015.
