US & Korea Alliance to Honor American Veterans' Sacrifice

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of its on-going commitment to honor the sacrifice made by millions of American veterans and to strengthen relations between the United States and the Republic of Korea, the US & Korea Alliance Association will host an important ceremony in MacArthur Park on Saturday, September 29, 2012.

"Our nation only exists as a free society because of the sacrifices made by American military personnel and we must honor that sacrifice made more than 60 years ago," said Alliance President Dr. Chuck Rheem. "Commemorating the selfless and valiant acts of courage performed by American veterans is both a way to say 'thank you' and to draw our two nations even more closely together."

This will be the second such event hosted by the Alliance; in 2007, more than 600 American veterans and military and government officials attended the ceremony.

Appearing at the event will be:

• Former Republic of Korea Prime Minister Un-Chan Chung
• Republic of Korea Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs Sung Choon Park
• United States Army General B. B. Bell, former Commander, UNC / CFC / USFK
• Colonel Louis Dechert, President, Combined Korean-US Veterans Association

Numerous local, regional, state, and federal officials and dignitaries are also expected to attend as hundreds of Korean War veterans and other military personnel.

The event will begin with The Third Marine Aircraft Wing Band, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, CA performing in the park and a commemorative ceremony at the MacArthur statue at 10 a.m.  This will be followed by a reception, lunch, and anthem and flag ceremonies at the neighboring Park Plaza Hotel.
