TriVeda Capital Announces Launch of $500 Million Real Estate Platform
BANGALORE, June 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
Initial India Portfolio Comprised of Residential and Mixed-Use Development Projects
TriVeda Capital announced today the launch of a $500 million real estate asset management platform in India. The platform's initial portfolio is comprised of five residential and mixed-use projects located in Bangalore. TriVeda plans to draw upon the firm's institutional private equity expertise to deliver value-added asset management services on behalf of both real estate owners and investors.
Mr. Raj S. Inamdar, Managing Director of TriVeda Capital, states, "We are pleased to launch TriVeda Capital's real estate investment and asset management platform in India. In the years ahead, we look forward to differentiating ourselves in the Indian marketplace through our world-class private equity standards, value-oriented investment approach, conservative use of leverage and activist asset management program."
TriVeda invests capital on behalf of global institutions, India-based and NRI/PIO investors into structured real estate transactions located in India's Tier I cities. The firm is now seeking to deploy capital into a range of middle-class residential projects. Mr. Sachin Garg, Vice President of TriVeda Capital, elaborates, "We are in advanced stages of discussion to acquire a residential land parcel in Bangalore for $20 million, and will soon be identifying a developer to execute the project."
Over the next several months, TriVeda also intends to commence capital raising activities for a closed-end vehicle established for NRIs, PIOs and India-based real estate investors. "We have circled the initial investors for this investment vehicle, which shall make structured investments in the Indian real estate space. The vehicle is designed to provide attractive risk-adjusted returns to investors combined with strong downside protections," confirms Mr. Inamdar.
The TriVeda management team has an extensive track record in real estate, private equity, asset management, venture capital and development execution. Since 2007, Mr. Inamdar has raised $800 million of equity from global institutional investors across six closed-end real estate investment vehicles focused on India (including Red Fort Capital, Indra Capital and SARE Group fund vehicles). He has also led asset management for a development portfolio of 20+ residential and mixed-use projects in India's Tier I cities worth over $5+ billion. Prior to 2007, Mr. Inamdar was a real estate development executive for Millennium Partners, a U.S.-based developer of mixed-use Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton luxury properties. He began his career as an investment banker with Morgan Stanley's M&A department in New York. Mr. Inamdar received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and B.A. from Harvard University.
Mr. Garg brings his expertise in general management, venture capital, and real estate to the TriVeda platform. He has previously structured and invested in real estate development projects in the Delhi-NCR region. He is an early-stage investor in startups across the mobile and internet domains and is a Founding Member of the Global Superangels Fund. Mr. Garg is a former Business Head for Amazon.com and began his career at Tata Consultancy Services advising multi-national clients in the U.S.A., Canada, Ireland and India. He received his M.B.A. from the Yale School of Management and B. Tech. from Kurukshetra University. In the coming months, TriVeda will be hiring additional senior executives for asset management, capital markets and investor relations initiatives.
