Henderson Global Investors Appointed as Investment Manager by AustralianSuper

SINGAPORE, June 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Henderson Global Investors, the Australian and UK listed fund manager with GBP68.9 billion in assets under management, has been appointed as Investment Manager to AustralianSuper, the $AUS60 billion Australian superannuation fund, for its emerging UK retail property strategy.

The mandate is part of a wider global strategy for AustralianSuper, which has recently announced a direct international programme which aims to significantly grow its global property investment portfolio over the next 5 years.

AustralianSuper, one of Australia's largest industry superannuation funds, currently owns a c. $4.6 billion real estate portfolio. Its appetite for UK retail property is focused on the prime and super prime sector.

Having specialised in retail property for over 30 years, Henderson Global Investors has a strong reputation for the establishment and management of specialist retail funds and mandates. It has been involved in some of the best-known and largest retail schemes across the UK and Europe. Many of these schemes have been ground breaking in terms of scale, design and innovation. Of its c.GBP12.7 billion AUM in property, c.GBP7.4 billion, c. 60%, sits within the retail sector.
