Unorganised sector workers can now earn Rs 3000 monthly under Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Mandhan Yojana

The workers of unorganised sector will get a yearly pension of Rs 36000 under Pradhan Mantri Yogi Mandhan Yojana scheme by just depositing Rs 2 a day.

Pension is an important part of anyone's life who wishes to retire one day and lead a comfortable life. Now, under the Pradhan Mantri Yogi Mandhan Yojana scheme, by just depositing Rs 2 per day, the workers of unorganised sector can get a yearly pension of Rs 36000.

Government figures state that around 42 crore people work in the unorganized sector in the country including maids, cobblers, tailors, rickshaw pullers, washermen, and labourers, all of whom can benefit from this scheme.

What does the PMSMY scheme entail?

If you are a worker and have registered yourself under this scheme then you will have to deposit Rs 55 monthly. This means, if from the age of 18, a person starts saving Rs 2/day, he/she will be eligible to get a pension of Rs 36,000 annually. 

On the other hand, if a person starts this scheme at the age of 40, he or she will have to deposit Rs 200 monthly. 

Eligibility

Under this scheme, it is mandatory to have a savings bank account or a Jan Dhan Bank account, a mobile number, and an Aadhaar card. The minimum age to apply is 18 years and the maximum is 40 years.

A worker from the unorganised sector whose monthly income is less than Rs 15,000 is only eligible to apply for the scheme.

How can you register for the scheme?

You can register for the Pradhan Mantri Yogi Mandhan Yojana scheme through their Common Service Center (CSC) portal. All the information that you will provide will go straight to the central government's data through the portal.
