Once the fraudster extracts all the information through Vishing then it uses the information against you
When a fraud person calls you to extract sensitive information like your date of birth, credit/debit card CVV or bank details, it's called 'Vishing'. The word 'Vishing' has been derived from two words - voice and fishing.
Vishing is done over a phone call where a fraudster poses as a bank employee and tries to extract information. It includes user id, login and transaction password, OTP (One time password), URN (Unique registration number), Card PIN, Grid card values, CVV, or any personal parameters such as date of birth, mother's maiden name through which your bank account can be accessed.
Once the fraudster has extracted all the information, they use it to access your account and use your money which leads to loss.
Always remember, no bank employee or anyone representing a bank will call and ask you for your sensitive information. These calls can be caught if the person is attentive enough. The fraudster will ask your name, then date of birth and then slowly after gaining your confidence will move on to ask for more sensitive information. If you receive such a call, report it to your bank.
It is advised by the bank not to give out personal information or click on any link relating to banking services. A bank will never ask you to click a random link or fill out your details on a form. A bank always asks the employee to visit its nearest branch for any help.
