SBI news: State Bank of India offers home loans at low interest rates, details here

In important news for those looking to buy a new home, the State Bank of India (SBI) is providing a variety of home loans at low interest rates. Additionally, the largest lender in India has also let go of the processing fee for home loans when it comes to the projects approved by the SBI. The SBI is offering loans at interest rates starting from as low as 6.80 per cent.

It is to be noted that the SBI provides different types of home loans for its customers ranging from regular loan plans and the Top-up loan for its existing customers to the SBI Shaurya home loan for the army and defense personnel and the SBI Privilege home loan for government employees. Some other such loans provided by the SBI are SBI MaxGain Home Loan, SBI NRI Home Loan, SBI FlexiPay Home Loan for loans of larger amounts, SBI Smart Home, and SBI HerGhar Home Loan for women.

According to the SBI, it has a market share of as high as 34 per cent in the home loan segment and it caters to around a thousand customers availing home loans on a daily basis. It further informed its customers that it was working on certain themes including refined analytics for boosting its growth, making the home loan journey easy for its customers, among other things.

The SBI also provides lakhs of home loans under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) of the government of India. The SBI is the only bank authorised by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development to act as the central nodal agency for processing the PMAY subsidy. The bank had sanctioned nearly two lakh home loans under the PMAY by the end of 2020 in its bid to support the 'Housing for all by 2022' programme of the government.
