There's no doubt that with online transactions, cybercrime has certainly increased. Every person operating their bank account or payments through an online portal or an App have always been asked to stay cautious and alert while making any transactions. The most important thing that one is asked to do is not to click on any link and never to disclose your One-Time Password (OTP).

If you are a State Bank of India (SBI) customer then you should beware of the scams that have been taking place in the name of customer KYC verification.

According to the report of CyberPeace Foundation and Autobot Infosec, Chinese hackers are targeting customers in the name of a KYC verification. The scam starts with an SMS or a WhatsApp message. In the message, they ask you to update your KYC through a link that is present in the message itself. Apart from this you also get an email.

Once you click on the link, it takes you to a site that resembles the original site of SBI. You need to pay attention to the address of the website. The original website looks like this: https://retail.onlinesbi.com/retail/login.htm. The fake website's address will be different from this.

After you reach the site, you are asked to type in your SBI banking details like your username, password, captcha infirmation etc. You will also be asked to provide the OTP received on your mobile.

If in doubt, what you can do is run any OTP and see if the process is still running. If it is, then don't give out further details like account holder name, mobile number, date of birth, etc.

Scammers can make you a financial victim later by submitting such information. For this, it is necessary that you do not share any kind of sensitive information on any unknown link. If you use net banking, then do not click on the bank related link found in any message. Always go to the web browser and enter the URL in a proper way then use net banking.
