ITR filing alert! Taxpayers can now file income tax return at nearest post office

There is a big relief and good news for lakhs of salaried taxpayers of the country. Now, it will be very easy to file an Income Tax return (ITR). India Post is now offering taxpayers an option to file ITR at the nearest post office's Common Services Centres (CSC) counters. The India Post has already made an announcement in this regard.

How to file ITR

The CSC counter of the post office acts as a 'single access point' for the people of India across the country. Here, customers get various services related to postal banking and insurance at a single window. Any person can know about the information related to various government schemes and benefits from the CSC counter of the post office. Apart from this, customers can also avail the facility of various e-services from these counters under the 'Digital India Program' of the Government of India.

Meanwhile, the Income Tax Department has recently launched its new e-filing portal www.incometax.gov.in. The India Post offer is in addition to the ITR e-filing option available at this new income tax portal. Those earning individuals, who are tech-savvy can file their ITR online by logging in at the new income tax website.

However, the new platform is currently marred with glitches. The tech department along with Infosys is currently working to fix all the technical issues to offer an impressive experience to Indian taxpayers.
