The month of October 2021 is full of festivals and fervour and it is important to know all private and public bank holidays before you plan a visit to these financial institutes. Starting today, banks in several cities of India will remain closed for a total of 13 days. So, if you have any important work related to the bank, you should plan your work keeping in mind the holidays.
The guidelines released by RBI mentions that the public sector, private sector, foreign banks, cooperative banks, and regional banks across the country will stay shut on the mentioned dates.
The RBI list of holidays is divided into three categories: state-specific festivities, religious holidays, and festival celebrations. RBI notified holidays for lenders under these categories—the Negotiable Instruments Act, Holiday, Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday, and Banks’ Closing of Accounts.
Banks will be closed for 13 days in various cities around the country starting today.

October 1 - Half-annual bank closing account in Gangtok.
October 2 - Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti (closed in all states)
October 3 - Sunday
October 6 - Mahalaya Amavasya (Agartala, Bangalore, and Kolkata)
October 7 - Mira Chorel Houba (Imphal)
October 9 - Second Saturday
October 10 - Sunday
October 12 - Durga Puja (Maha Saptami) - Agartala, Kolkata
October 13 - Durga Puja (Maha Ashtami) - Agartala, Bhubaneswar, Gangtok, Guwahati, Imphal, Banks closed in Kolkata, Patna, and Ranchi
October 14 - Durga Puja / Dussehra (Maha Navami) - Agartala, Bangalore, Chennai, Gangtok, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Patna, Ranchi, Shillong, and Thiruvananthapuram
October 15 - Durga Puja / Dasara / Vijayadashmi - Imphal and Shimla
