An Aadhaar card issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is one of the most important documents that every Indian citizen must have. From financial transactions to enjoying government-related schemes, the Aadhaar card is a must for every individual to have.
Generally, the information on an Aadhaar card is written in the English language, however, now after UIDAI's latest update, citizens will be able to generate their Aadhaar in multiple regional languages.
In the latest update, the Aadhaar card will be available in Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, and Kannada languages.
If you are looking to change the language in your Aadhaar card then you can apply for the same online. You can request a change either by visiting an Aadhaar Seva Kendra or you can apply for the same online.
Here is a step-by-step guide to change the language of your Aadhaar online
Step 1: Log in to the UIDAI's official website - https://uidai.gov.in/
Step 2: Click on 'Update Aadhaar' and later on 'Update Demographic Data Online'
Step 3: You will now be able to see the Aadhaar Self Service Update Portal
Step 4: Open the portal and enter your unique Aadhaar number and the Captcha security code
Step 5: Enter necessary details and click on 'Generate OTP'
Step 6: Enter OTP and login
Step 7: Click on 'Update Demographics Data'
Step 8: Select your preferred regional language
Step 9: Update the demographics and submit
Step 10: Review all the information and then submit the form
Step 11: An OTP will be sent to your phone
Step 12: Enter OTP. Submit Rs 50 fee and your application process will be complete
Step 13: Once the update is completed within 1-3 weeks, download the card.
