The Unique Identification Authority Of India (UIDAI) recently issued a big warning regarding the Aadhaar card stating that all 12 digit numbers should not be considered as Aadhaar, in fact, UIDAI has issued this alert after complaints of fraud.

UIDAI took to its Twitter handle to address the problem. The post said that not every 12 digit number is an Aadhaar card number. It is suggested that Aadhaar should be verified before accepting it as identity proof. Therefore, if you need someone's Aadhaar, then definitely check whether the Aadhaar number given by the person is correct.

How to verify the Aadhaar number

The Aadhaar verification can be done easily online. For verification, one needs to visit the UIDAI link resident.uidai.gov.in/verify. After going through the link you will need to enter the 12 digits Aadhaar number, after filling the captcha, click on the button of Verify. After doing this, you will see the authenticity of the 12 digit number on the screen. If it does not verify the number then it means that you are being duped.
