Strikes, public holidays to hit banking operations from Dec 21-26: Here is what you can do to avoid inconvenience
Most bank branches will remain open only for a day between December 21 and December 26.

1.December 21: Strike
The All-India Bank Officers Confederation (AIBOC) has called for a bank strike on December 21. The AIBOC has said the strike call on December 21 has been given against Indian Banks' Associations move to leave officers in scale IV and above out of the bipartite wage settlement ambit. The AIBOC called a strike after it walked out of a bipartite negotiation demanding full mandate for scale I to scale VII officers, introduction of five-day work week, salary revision according to the charter of demands and a defined benefit pension payment scheme unlike the NPS.
Raman Vaghela, spokesman of AIBOC in Gujarat, said that they want to ensure that their issues are not sidelined during the nationwide general strike on December 26 and so they have planned a separate strike but are also participating in the December 26 strike. He said that normal banking activity will be disrupted on December 21 as officers giving approval for key decisions will not be working.
While bank branches will remain closed, ATM operations may remain unaffected, an official of the association said Wednesday. You can also perform other banking operations like Netbanking.
2.December 22: Fourth Saturday
Banks will be closed on December 22 on account of it being the fourth Saturday of the month. Banks are closed on second and fourth Saturday of each month. While branches will remain closed, other banking operations like Netbanking and ATM services will go on usually.
3.December 23: Sunday
Banks will remain closed on Sunday, December 23.
4.December 24: Saviour
Between December 21 and 26, this will be the only working day at banks for public dealing. So if you miss your appointment today, mark this day on your calendar.

5.December 25: Christmas
All banks in the country will remain closed on Christmas as it is a public holiday. All banking services will be closed.
6.December 26: Strike
The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), which comprises nine unions of officers and employees of scale III and IV, has given a call for strike on December 26. UFBU has also demanded that the merger of Vijaya Bank, Bank of Baroda and Dena Bank should be called off. Further, UFBU has strongly opposed has the IBA's revised offer of a 8 per cent hike and wants it to further revise its offer substantially to an acceptable level.
ATM operations may be hit on December 26.
