7th Pay Commission news: Latest updates over DA, DR restoration for Central government employees, pensioners
The latest announcements include restoration of 7th Pay Commission DA (Dearness Allowance) and 7th CPC DR (Dearness Relief) benefit.

1.DA, DR restoration
Minister of State (MoS) at the Ministry of Finance Anurag Thakur has said in the Rajya Sabha that Centre has restored 7th Pay Commission DA and 7th Pay Commission DR benefit of the central government employees and pensioners respectively from July 1, 2021. But the Centre is yet to make any final announcement regarding the resumption of 7th CPC DA and 7th CPC DR benefit.
However, National Council of JCM has claimed that Cabinet Minister has assured them to resume DA and DR from September 2021, reported Live Mint.
2.House Building Advance (HBA) benefit
In an apparent effort to help those central government employees who want to construct their own house, the Centre had announced in June 2020 the House Building Advance (HBA) benefit to all central government employees. The basic interest rate charged on this HBA is 7.9 per cent and the HBA benefit will remain available till March 31, 2022.
3.New time-limit for submission of Travelling Allowance after retirement
The time-limit for submission of Travelling Allowance (TA) claims was recently extended from 60 days to 180 days. The Centre announced that the decision to change time-limit for TA submission on retirement will come into effect from June 15, 2021.
4.Pension slip via email, SMS, WhatsApp
The Centre has directed the pension disbursing banks to issue pension slip to the pensioners with complete break up via SMS on the registered mobile number of the pensioners. Banks are also advised the pension disbursing banks to issue pension slip on the given email ID of the pensioner or via WhatsApp. This initiative came into effect from July 1, 2021.

5.Simplification of pension benefit
The Centre recently announced its decision to simplify the family pension rules for central government servants. Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh announced the changes in rules made by the Department of Pension & Pensioners Welfare and said that in the changed rule provisional family pension will be sanctioned immediately on receipt of claim for Family Pension and Death Certificate from the eligible family member without waiting for the completion of other formalities or procedural requirements.
