All of us know that saving is something we all need to be doing yet never really get around to it. It's easy to procrastinate and find multiple excuses to not get started.

Whether we are trying to be healthy or start saving money, the key is to start small and break our larger goals into smaller ones. If we get the ball rolling by taking small and frequent steps, that helps us accomplish larger goals.Some key tips to kick-start a saving habit:

Visualise the outcome: Create a goal and add personality to it. This could be something as simple as adding a picture to a money jar and dropping cash in it every day. When you feel that you are beginning to slack, gently remind yourself about what you are trying to achieve, and this will help stay on track.

Create an easy plan before tackling harder ones: Break down your goal into small and manageable steps. Easy wins keep you motivated and hungry for bigger ones. Don't undervalue your progress especially when you're just getting started.

Set a timeline: Sometimes when you have a timeline it is easier to maintain your goal as you know you have a specific period to accomplish it in. You can also use this timeline to help you calculate exactly how much you need to save everyday to reach your goal. This can motivate you to give it all you have and to ensure that you are setting yourself up for success.

Use technology: There are some great apps to help us get started with saving. The best saving apps break down the entire saving process into something that is simple and achievable, inadvertently helping you build a savings habit.
