Social activist killed in Pune by unidentified assailants

Social activist Satish Shetty, was murdered at Talegaon Dabhade, about 40 km from here, by unidentified assailants today, police said.

Shetty who had left house for a morning walk, was attacked with swords by masked men. He died on the spot.        

The 38-year-old Shetty was actively involved in the anti-corruption movement launched in Maharashtra by social worker Anna Hazare invoking the Right to Information (RTI) act.
       
He had also campaigned against some irregularities in land transactions in Maval taluka of Pune district.
