Youth held for raping 4-year-old

The MHB Colony police on Tuesday arrested a 19-year-old for allegedly sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl in Borivli (West). The incident happened on Sunday, when the girl was playing outside her house in Ganpat Patil Nagar slums. The accused, Vinod Jaiswar, offered to buy her ice cream. He then allegedly took her to his house in the same neighbourhood.

An officer said, "The accused raped the girl in his house and then dropped her home. She started crying on reaching home and told her parents what had happened." The girl's mother also found injuries on her private parts. She did not file a complaint immediately and approached the police on Tuesday, following which a case was registered.

A medical examination was conducted, after which Jaiswar was booked under sections 377 (unnatural sex) and 342 (wrongful confinement) of the Indian Penal Code and 354B of the Criminal Law Amendment Bill, along with relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. He will be produced in a metropolitan magistrate's court on Wednesday.
