Youth axes 19-year-old engineering student to death

A 19-year-old computer engineering student was axed to death at the residence of her boyfriends friend in Virar due to a petty fight.

Aishwarya Aggarwal (19), a resident of Arnala and a student of VIVA college was allegedly in a relationship with Sohail Shaikh (20), a resident of Virar. On Friday, she arrived at his friend Deepak's residence near Gokul Township, got into a fight, and was axed, more than 20 time, to death.

"We have taken two youths into custody, for interrogation. We are checking phone records and are trying to ascertain the motive and identity of the actual killer in the incident," said Yunus Shaikh, police inspector, Virar police station.

An officer from Palghar police department revealed, "We suspect that the girl may have resisted sexual abuse by the friend of her boyfriend, which could have led to the assault, followed by the attack with an axe," he said.

"We are investigating all angles in the case and are awaiting further reports to confirm if the girl was sexually abused," said Shaikh.
