Young woman stabbed by ex-colleague in Thane mall

A 21-year-old woman from Manpada was stabbed by a former colleague in the parking lot of a Thane (W) mall late on Tuesday evening. A passerby rushed the severely injured woman to Metro hospital, where she is undergoing treatment. The accused, a 26-year-old man, has been taken in to custody.

The accused has been identified as Sujit Ghavat (26), a resident of Parsik Nagar in Kalwa. According to the Kapurbawdi police, the two were colleagues at the Domino's Pizza outlet in WonderMall, Thane (W), until Ghavat left the job a few months ago.

Though they soon became friends, Ghavat would often get irked by the woman's frank nature, triggering arguments over the same.

On Tuesday, Ghavat called up the woman, saying he had some important work to discuss and needed to meet her. When the woman reached the spot, the two had a heated argument, and Ghavat stabbed the 21-year-old.
An officer with Kapurbawdi police said: "The accused is in our custody, and he had brought a knife with him when he met the victim. The woman is in a critical condition and is undergoing treatment."

The officer added that this was the second such incident in two days. On Monday, a woman was stabbed by her ex-husband just a few feet from the spot where Ghavat stabbed his former colleague.
