A shop owner confirmed that sale of yoga mats and other related products has gone up by 50%.
With the entire nation and world is celebrating International Yoga Day today, the grand event has given an extra boost to sale of yoga mats and related products.
Along with housing societies and the Thane Municipal Corporation, many corporate events are also happening in city. Several trainers have also been roped in to conduct and co-ordinate the events. A shopkeeper selling sports and fitness material said, "Footfalls in shop has increased in the last one week and kids seem to be the most excited lot who want everything from costumes to mats." The shop owner confirmed that sale of yoga mats and other related products has gone up by 50%.
Vishambhar Patil, who owns a shop at Naupada, said, "The demand has certainly gone up with people giving preference to mats 'Made in China' as they are cheaper than the regular ones. I have also received bulk order from one a housing society and many individuals are walking in for products in the last one week."
Citing reason behind upsurge in sale, he added that many schools, NGOs, institutes and housing societies are participating in the event. "So, the demand has gone up," he said Mitesh Sanghvi, a yoga trainer, said, "There is definitely a lot of buzz about the event. I have been roped in by many people, so I will be busy from 6am to 11am."
International Yoga Day has not only spread awareness about yoga, but has given an instant kick to the yoga trainers who now are finding it difficult to manage time for everyone. Many enthusiasts have also taken to online shopping and ordered all the necessary products to stay away from hassles of going to market. In Thane, Yoga Day is being observed at prominent housing societies, TMC, Central Jail, Mental hospital, among others.
