Western Railway on Friday announced that it was withdrawing 14 Mainline Multiple Electrical Unit (MEMU) rakes from its suburban section in Mumbai in order to bolster the logistics of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela to be held at Ujjain from April 22 to May 21.

Consequently, these services in Mumbai suburban section will be run by utilising EMU/ Conventional (ICF) coaches instead of MEMU rakes for the respective period. All these services are on the Dadar-Dahanu and Virar-Dahanu sectors, Western Railway said in a statement.
