It was fun and frolic for over 100 visually impaired students, who participated in various competitions organised by Snehankit, an NGO that works for the visually
impaired.
The Lions Club of Sapphire lent a helping hand in organising the event. It provided a platform for students to showcase their talent and skills. The two-day event concluded on Sunday with the prize distribution ceremony.
Snehankit was founded in 1999 by visually impaired Rahul Deshmukh. The NGO provides computer training to visually impaired students.
Dnyaneshwar Gaikwad, a blind student, was awarded the best and ideal student award, as he stood first in cricket and general knowledge competitions.
“The visually impaired students too possess talent and there is a need to provide opportunity to them also,” said Deshmukh, adding that the outfit has been organising the event for the last decade.
These students participated in cricket, painting, singing and general knowledge competitions and proved themselves.
Lions Club of Sapphire’s president, Madhav Pillai, attended the prize distribution function. Sujit Bangar, assistant commissioner of Income Tax, Pune, was the chief guest.
