The recent murder case of a 10-year-old boy by his 15-year-old neighbour in Sakinaka have brought the concept of broadcasting violent serials and web series under criticism as the accused teen had executed the murder after borrowing some strategies from a popular television soap.

The accused teen who was allegedly wanting to establish an unnatural sexual relationship with the deceased kid had first strangled him and after stuffing the dead body inside a trolley bag threw the bag into a Sakinaka nullah.

According to the police, the teen was addicted to crime shows and had adopted a few strategies to escape suspicion and arrest.

Child psychologist, Dr Ali Gabrani said that the characters being played by the TV actors play a very influential role in the conscious, sub-conscious and unconscious mind of the children. Children tend to get detached from the real world and get more engaged in a virtual world.

"Absence of censorship in many TV programmes have also altered the hormonal flow of the teens. This has driven them to experiment with new things. They end up having unnatural sex or sex without precautions. Less sleep, waking till late nights, red eyes, etc are some symptoms where the parents need to turn on their antennas and keep a close watch on their kids," said Gabrani.
