NASIK: Twenty-five MNS activists, including two municipal corporators, have been rounded up following attacks on fruit-vendors and pelting of stones here.

MNS corporators Sunanda Kharote from Ward No 34 and Vijay Ovhal from Ward No. 37, were taken into custody, party corporator Pratap Mehrolia said.

Mehrolia said that Tuesday's incidents at Nasik road and other areas in the district attacking hawkers, were to express protest against the likely arrest of their leader Raj Thackeray.

City Police Commissioner S M Sayyed, denied reports of north Indians leaving Nasik.

He said that security on Satpur-Ambad Link road, where north Indians stay in large numbers has been stepped up.

However, the situation in Nasik city was under control, Sayyed added.
