A Spanish woman, who was raped at her Bandra home last year, has been allowed by a sessions court to record her statement through video conference. She will not be required to fly down to India to depose in the trial.
Special public prosecutor, advocate Ujjwal Nikam, had pleaded of the court to allow the woman to depose through video link.
Nikam told dna that the request had been made to the court as the woman is not keeping good health.
Now the victim will appear before the Indian High Commission in Berlin and officials from the commission will verify her identity.”
The case dates back to November 2012 when the accused Mohammed Anwar Ansari alias Badshah allegedly raped and robbed the victim at knifepoint. The woman had identified the accused during an identification parade.
