The US today said it was in touch with relevant officials to resolve the issue of an American chartered aircraft being forced to land at Mumbai airport for alleged violation of the Indian airspace.

"We are aware of the situation, and are in touch with relevant officials to resolve this issue, which is a routine matter," an US embassy spokesperson said here.

The chartered plane with 205 passengers including US Marine commandos on board was on its way from Fujiriah in Middle East to Bangkok when it was forced to land in Mumbai while overflying Indian airspace, officials said. They said the plane was using a civilian call sign.
