The commuters will now get SMS updates about their reservation status in advance. At present this facility is being conducted on experimental basis for Shivneri and Ashwamedh buses. It will be extended to semi-luxury and the ordinary buses in the next 15 days.

An official statement released by the MSRTC states that the smses are being sent in three cases: when the online reservation is confirmed; a reminder four days prior to the journey and when to confirm, if the commuter decided to cancel his ticket.

The improvements are a part of the measures being implemented by the corporation to improve the much-needed, and perhaps long pending, passenger services.

Recently, the MSRTC also announced that it will begin services to Udaipur and Panjim from Mumbai in the first fortnight of December. New inter-state services will also be started from Pune and Nagpur to Surat, Ahemadabad and Hyderabad. This is the first time the government-run bus operator is going in for such a massive boost in inter-state connectivity for AC Volvo buses.
