A 25-year-old Uganda national was detained at the Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport early on Tuesday for trying to smuggle
5kg of cocaine worth over Rs1.5 crore.
Diana Musoga was caught by a team of Customs officers headed by Assistant Commissioner Sameer Wankhede. “Diana was stopped after an officer who was handling sniffer dogs got suspicious. The sniffer dog then confirmed that she was carrying some drug. While checking her baggage, officials couldn’t find anything in the first go. The lady had concealed the cocaine inside the cavity created in her bags and hand bag,” said officials.
“The woman had first gone to Delhi and then reached Mumbai from where she was going to Uganda. Diana admitted that she got the consignment from Delhi and she was on her way to Uganda via Mumbai,” said the official.
“The dog handler zeroed on her after he found her body language uncomfortable. When she was stopped by the Customs officers, she started getting nervous. Customs officers had to torn her baggage and hand bag to find the drugs,” the official added.
Diana is a frequent traveller. “The way she had stuffed the entire drug in her baggage can only be done by professionals,” said the official.
