The 51-year-old leader had undergone the first angioplasty in the same hospital in July, following complaints of severe chest pain.

The medical team had then discovered multi-vessel blockages and suggested that he must undergo two series of medical procedures to relieve his condition.

"This second angioplasty was suggested to him when he was admitted for the first surgery. It is a scheduled procedure, which has been mapped by the medical team from Lilavati," a Sena source said.

Yesterday, after meeting party MPs and MLAs at the Sena Bhawan, Uddhav had said that he would undergo surgeries in phases.
