Two persons, including a child, were killed in separate accidents in the past 48 hours in the city.

A 2-year-old child, Gopal Subhash Patil, was killed after he was run over by a speeding Tempo on Saturday morning at Khandwenagar in Lohegaon area. The police arrested the Tempo driver, Vijay Shaimwil Waghmare (38) of Lohegaon, for rash driving.

A complaint in this regard was lodged by the victim’s mother, Vijaya (27) at the Airport police station.

The mishap took place when the Tempo was going toward Ahmednagar while Gopal was playing near his house.

“Waghmare lost control of the vehicle and hit the child, killing him on the spot,” said the police. Waghmare was nabbed by local residents while he was trying to escape with the vehicle.

In another incident, Anil Shrihari Mohite (55) of Khadki died after he was hit by a speeding PMPML bus on Friday while crossing the road in front of Netaji School in Yerawada.

The Yerawada police arrested the PMPML driver, Navnath Danyandev Ghadge (31) of Kothrud, for rash driving.

The police said the bus was coming from the Golf Chowk on Airport Road. The bus driver lost control over the vehicle in front of Netaji School and hit the victim.

Mohite was rushed to a private hospital where he succumbed to injuries on Saturday. The police have registered a complaint in this regard.
