The accused had an entry pass that had expired in August 2017, which they forged by updating its validity till 2018, instead of renewing it.
Two senior citizens were arrested by the Cuffe Parade Police on Friday for allegedly forging the entry pass of Saudi Arabian Consulate in Cuffe Parade.
The accused had an entry pass that had expired in August 2017, which they forged by updating its validity till 2018, instead of renewing it.
The accused were arrested while they were trying to enter the Saudi Arabian Consulate with an expired entry pass.
The two accused have been identified as Abdul Aziz, 72, a resident of Pune and a recruitment agent, and Ravindran VP who works with Aziz.
According to the police, the incident took place on May 15 when Ravindran was trying to enter the Consulate. He was caught after the security guard checked his entry pass and found that it was forged. The police said, "The Consulate then checked the status of the pass and found that it had expired in August 2017. Instead of renewing the pass, Ravindran forged the date by extending it to May 2018. The complainant Muzamil Nadaf, a member of the Consulate, approached the Cuffe Parade Police and filed a complaint."
"Following the complaint, we immediately arrested the accused and it was revealed that Aziz had provided him with the pass. The Consulate then checked Aziz's pass and found that his pass had expired as well. We then also arrested Aziz. During the investigation, Aziz told us that he used to visit the Saudi Consulate on regular basis for visas, and had an entry pass from the Ministry of External Affairs that was valid for a year," said an officer from the Cuffe Parade Police Station.
"When the Consulate checked the authenticity of the agent, they found that he had been in the business of overseas recruitment for a long time. Consulate staff are now checking how many people have made forged passes and entered the premises illegally," the officer added.
A case under Sections 465 (punishment for forgery), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) and 471 (using as genuine a forged 1 (document or electronic record)) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused.
