Two booked for stalking women at Juhu beach

The victim has alleged that the duo were deliberately making gestures and passing comments in order to outrage their modesty and when objected, the accused duo assaulted them in public.

Two men have been arrested by the Santacruz police for stalking two women at Juhu Chowpatty Thursday evening. The accused duo has been identified as Amikumar Varma (27) and Rakesh Pal (20). The victim has alleged that the duo were deliberately making gestures and passing comments in order to outrage their modesty and when objected, the accused duo assaulted them in public.

According to the police, the complainant is a resident of Santacruz. On Thursday evening, the duo decided to take a brisk walk at Chowpatty and when they left from their residence, Varma and Pal started following them.

"The accused passed lewd comments and made illicit gestures. When the women were seated, the accused started clicking selfies ensuring that the victims are incorporated in it. The victim objected to it but their pleas went unheard," said a police officer.

After an heated arguement Varma and Pal assaulted the victim and tried to push her away in a bid to get away from the spot. The nearby onlookers intervened and the duo were arrested.
