Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday informed the legislative assembly that all municipal bodies have been directed that within three years sewage water should be treated 100 per cent before their release. He also informed that a new policy will be incorporated in the urban development department and a financial model readied for the same.

The chief minister was talking when the issue of sewage and untreated water being released into the river in Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal limits came up. Members of the legislative assembly stated that untreated and sewage water was being released into the river. They wanted to know what action was being taken against this. Fadnavis, while bringing clarity of the government on the issue, stated that all municipal bodies have been directed to treat sewage water 100 per cent before it is being released into water bodies. They will have to do this within three years.
