The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is the top keyword searches done by Indians in 2010, according to Google Zeitgeist.

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation website allows commuters to book, reserve, and cancel railway tickets from anywhere to anywhere from any internet connection with simplicity.

‘Zeitgeist’ means “the spirit of the times”, and Google reveals it through the aggregation of millions of search queries that they receive every day, giving insight into global, regional, past and present search trends. The other listings include mobile phone companies, FIFA and a video-sharing website.

IRCTC officials are happy and said sometimes the pressure on the site is too much.

“There have been several instances of the website crashing because of the sheer load of commuters logging in,” an official said. Rakesh Tandon, national managing director of the IRCTC, told DNA from New Delhi, “All I can say is a big thank you to our valuable customers.”
