Tragic ending for family of 8

They were residents living in a flat on the first floor of the building. Makdoom Ali Shaikh (28), his wife Aliya (21), son Hamza (4 months) and daughter Husna (4); his brother Abdul Karim Shaikh (30), Abdul’s wife Fareeda (25), his son Shakir (6) and daughter Tasmiya (2 years 9 months). All of them died on Friday morning. A family of eight wiped out in one fell blow.

Makdoom sold potatoes for a living from a shop in the building. Karim was working in a shoe shop in Vikhroli. “It was their own flat and both the families were residing in it for the last one year.  I live in Goregaon and my aunt who stays in the building opposite Makdoom’s told me of the collapse at 3:30am.” said Tabilal Shaikh, Makdoom’s nephew.
